@EvilElf44 You are absolutely right on all counts. The late 70's early 80 emmisions and anti compression motors was an unfortunate time. It is what it is and that's why I'm in favor of dropping in a different motor worthy of a trans am. I'm well aware of what todays gasoline will do to a Hemi motor, it's percisely the reason I run led additiive with high test gas in mine.

sure the Hemi is the best engine ever but your forgetting that the hemi wasnt crippled by emissions controls and crappy gas quality. that being said the engine in my 78 trans am is going to have approx 450Hp and 550ft/lbs of torque. thats not bad numbers for these days on pump gas.

you should try putting todays gas in an origional 68 hemi and see how far it gets you, the detonation you will get out of it will wreck your motor in short order
