@Zed1967 The point I'm making is that the word agnostic is unnecessary because it is already built into atheism. You tried to make a distinction between agnostics and atheists but I know atheists who take all those positions you said only agnostics take.

As someone stated before in the comments:

If someone asks you the question, "do you believe in god or gods?" and your answer is anything other than 'yes', then you are an atheist!

How anyone can deny this is lost on me...

@Zed1967 You can't pin down what an agnostic or atheist think and say things like "an atheist asserts" because there isn't a doctrine for non-believers like there is for believers. There are atheists that just lack a belief or suspend belief. There are different degrees of atheist positions ranging from weak to strong, I personally take a strong position because I KNOW that humans came up with the idea of a god just like I KNOW we came up with the idea of fairies and ghosts.
