This is a mini bench grinder and polisher that I bought off of ebay with 3" diameter grinding and polishing wheels. It can spin up to 10,000 RPM when there is nothing being ground or polished (no load.) It has a flexible shaft for hard to get at spots. It cost me $84.50 CDN ($80.45 USD) including shipping, around $40 USD without shipping. Just search on ebay for "mini bench grinder" and you'll find it or one just like it. The company that makes it is Neiko Tools USA. I've since taken it apart (see below) so I can't weigh it exactly but I'd guess it weighs roughly 700-1200 grams.

I bought it to take apart and use the high RPM motor with dual shaft ends for something I'm building called a Hyde generator and details will can be found at http://rimstar.org/sdenergy/hyde_generator

  • Hi there. Can you tell me about the power of this beauty? I'm interested in the torque of this compared to a Dremel.

    thanks.

  • @AndreiAvramescu Interesting question. Unfortunately I don't have an answer. I just checked the manual and the labels on the motor and there's no torque information and my dremel has long since died so I can't do a comparison.

  • these are 35 bucks at harbor freight the same exact thing. does it work good i want to get one?

  • @redneckrollercoast1 I used it only as a grinder around the time I made the video and then took it apart to use the motor for something else, so it worked well as a grinder for that brief time. I can't say how well it would have worked in the long term. The motor worked great in my other application though!

  • Great video RimstarOrg, very interesting and well done!

  • @Urtaget Thanks!

    isn't torque reliant on amps?
