on iPod touch officially, it is, yes... unless you jailbreak it and enable it in 2.0.

Can't be a 1st Gen iPod Touch it doesnt make does sounds. Unless its part of the 3.0 software which i highly doubt

I had an audio cable going from the headphone jack to the input audio plug on my MacBook and set it as the default recording device for sound.
