I saw some of it when Americans voted in '08 for a candidate whose policies they didn't really know.

Except for the hollow "hope" and "change" mantra/rhetoric.

That and the fact that he was black, as mentioned by numerous voters.

If you're talking about racism then that's your clearest example of it.

I still have that mental picture of people crying because a black man got elected.

@stap0510 Speaking as an American, WE were flabbergasted at both Bush's 1st and 2nd "election". Most Americans were surprised and disappointed on both occasions. Racism is alive and well in America as it is everywhere else. It's just not on the surface. The ONLY way a black man was elected president of our country was because after Bush... ANYONE else as president was a huge relief. Don't judge us by our leaders. We don't always agree with them. In fact, we usually don't.

@stap0510 ....and the economic experts have said that things would have been much worse were it not for his policies. As well, we were on a fast downward spiral, tough to turn that completely around in one term. Here's some more information for you: The economic downturn during Bush's administration wasn't all his fault and the economic recovery since can't all be credited to Obama. That being said were you against Bush's bailouts?

@DrStrangebomb1993 Seen any Osama videos lately? Did you see the pics of his dead body? Do you think that the Seals that killed him are lying democrats? To be honest, there's no way that all the credit should go to Obama of course, events had been unfolding for some time but it is certainly clear, from Bush's own statements, that Osama wasn't a priority for the Bush administration. They would rather he still be alive so they can have their boogeyman to scare the witless with.

@stap0510 Oh we'll be living Bush's fucked up mess for a long time. Sorry, all that death and debt for the profit of a few isn't so easily forgiven. Send my brother to war to get rich, you deserve to be reviled. And Bush lost the popular vote in his first election. I'll give you one point, the fact that Democrats were so cocky that they didn't both to turn up in 2004 is reason why 2008 started. I don't think anybody believed any of that fascist bullshit was actually happening.
