Okay guys, this is pretty simple to me. From time to time I like to conduct a little social experiment in rooms of mixed gender. I open the door for my fellow man and say "After you, mate". And then when the women come along in the line, I smile and say "Here you go", and gently release the door so that they have to hold it open for themselves. They don't like it. Personally I feel neutral other than my interest in observing their reaction. BTW The guys appreciate the extra manners towards them.

I am living proof chivalry is dead . I am 18 . I spent my child days thinking I will treat women with such respect I will never hurt them and always protect them . I reached adulthood and saw how spiteful , sexist and deluded western women are and now i commit to never allowing a bitch in because they will just fuck me over then leave with all my money . I also learned that even though my morals were exactly what they want , if I didn't make the first move I would never show them .sluts

Some (i.e. not all) women use chivalry to manipulate men. One one hand, they want to be treated like princesses/goddesses and get pampered by guys. On the other hand, they want to be treated as equals like other men until the going gets rough. Once a man calls her out on something, he's being an insensitive jerk.
I respect everyone (men/women), but refuse to put someone on a pedestal because they have breasts and a vagina.

I have a strange problem when I'm chivalrous. I don't know why, but everytime I open doors for women in my mind I think "wow this women probably thinks I'm doing this just so I can talk to her or start some sort of relationship". Who knows what's going through her mind. It's just that I always think something negative. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Chivalry to one because of gender... not really in my book. I hold the door open for anyone/everyone. I even let others eat first at home, regardless of their gender. Chivalry in the middle ages was due to prevailing beliefs that we should've outgrown by now. That said, the way things are now, few on either side are actually treating the opposing side with respect. A gender-neutral chivalry needs to be started... showing it in the media would probably be a good way to start.

at least one knew what chivalry was and could say it should not be!

I can understand people being polite to other people as a sign of respect and personal maturity, but I don't agree with doing anything for women just because they are women. That draws a line of sexual segregation that dictates 1.) women don't have the ability to accomplish tasks like opening doors and pulling chairs out at a dinner table, and are therefore the weaker, more dependent sex, and 2.) men are strong enough to be completely independent without aid from others. Do it for men and women.
