Everyone knows what rhythm is when it comes to music, but where does rhythm occur in visual art? This lesson shows how to create a low relief sculpture with rhythmic design in mind. Layer by layer, piece by piece, this three-dimensional collage is assembled with repetitious shapes and elements, illustrating the principles of rhythm, balance and movement. You can access the PDF version of this lesson plan along with the materials list at: http://www.dickblick.com/lesson-plans/rhythm-in-layers/.

  • I wish my art teacher would have let us do a project like this. We did cool stuff, but we never did anything like this. Even though I'm not in school anymore, I'm going to do this project. I think I could make a nice piece for my room.

  • Rhytm ? and the melody when you heard a song which you liked ?

On painting is the same, desrespect rules of composition, volume and perspective is a mistake, I cannot agree, by what they saying here. Sorry.
