Saiga 7.62x39 Semi Automatic Rifle Unboxing

Unboxing my new Saiga 7.62x39 rifle, because someone had to do it. You'll see the box took a beating in shipping, but in true Russian style, the rifle was undamaged.

I realized after I stopped filming I didn't unbox the cleaning rod which also came in the box.

So if you file down the magazine catch on the rifle itself, its just as good as trying to modify the tab on the magazines? Because if that is the case, I think I would rather modify the rifle itself, so I wont have to modify every new magazine I buy.

@TheMedievalMan Filing down the magazine tabs only works on very specific magazines. To get the rifle to accept standard AK-47 magazines, you must modify the rifle -- usually by adding a bullet guide which requires first drilling a hole inside the trunnion. My preference was to make the 30 second modification to the Thermold magazines, because they're cheap and reliable, but of course it's your choice.

@SamPD2 Reason Number 1: It's an authentic, Russian-made, Kalashnikov-endorsed weapon, designed and constructed in the historical Izhmash factory, and as close as most of us will ever get to a 'real' AK-47, not just some Romanian-made aftermarket-altered knock-off.

@roadrager71 If you don't care about reloading, buy the cheapest you can find. The Saiga loves all kinds of 7.62 ammunition.

Do you live in California? This is the only gun that I found is most similar to a real AK47 with all parts and mechanism. Except they made it into a sports gun. T_T
