In a counter-protest to the red-shirted United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship, pink-shirted Thais rallied at a Bangkokpark on Friday.
The Bangkok Post has reported that the group, gathered around a statue of King Rama VI, swore to protect Thailand.
Vasit Dejkunchorn, former deputy director-general of police, and Charas Suwanmala, a political scientist and dean at Chulalongkorn University, led the Network for Peace, calling on everyone involved in recent political strife to work within the system. Members of the group signed a petition against dissolving parliament and amendments to the Constitution aimed at protecting individual politicians.
The incessant demonstrations threaten to paralyze the industry, Apichart Sankaray, an adviser to the Federation of Thai Tourism Associations, said.
Apichart said, "The decline has reached a point where we risk losing visitors for the long term. We want all sides to find a way out of this mess as quickly as possible."
Pink shirts exchanged insults with red shirts who, walked past the rally on their way to the U.S. Embassy. The UDD plans a large rally Saturday.

  • Nice rendition of “Scum of the Earth” or “หนักแผ่นดิน”. A catchy little tune with an especially horrible history. This was the theme tune to the October 1976 Massacre of Students at Thammasat University. It is undeniably the anthem of murderous Thai nationalism. It's theme is that any Thai who does not toe the line is not really Thai and deserves to be killed. Dr. Tul and these Pink Shirts are scum. They are the kind of people the world fought hard to rid itself of in Europe in the 20th Century.

  • No promotion violence. Do not say this group of government and military not to yellow, pink, blue and multicolored but are all the same color .

  • ตำรวจ ไม่เหมือนทหารเลย ช่วยเหลือประชาชนตลอดเลย

    แต่ตำรวจตีมั่วหมด

  • This group of people is the same group who wore yellow shirts and call themselves People's Alliance for Democracy or PAD. But because they are recognized as a violence maker, so they have to change. They choose pink because for this year its a good color for the king.

  • @markyboy07 the title says aka yellow shirt. i saw yellow shirt riot video on youtube vs army. it is very violence and brutal. yellow shirt red shirt seems to be all violence.
