So wait, what I'm about to ask is probably pretty basic but if your immune system is good and gets rid of the virus within a few weeks you'll obviously have antibodies in your blood afterwards so you'll also test HIV positive, right? Shame the interviewer didn't ask that question to follow up ;) I guess it's always better to protect yourself, whatever the real truth is about HIV and AIDS...I'd really like to watch a debate of both side's top scientists on national tv, that would be interesting!

HIV (ALONE) is harmless like every other retrovirus we know of that lives in the body and doesn't do anything! Our immune system can get rid of them within a few weeks. The reason why we test positive is not 1 species of the Retroviridae, It is the whole Genus!
