I've seen mothers with babies in strollers, and old people with canes, nearly run down by cars who don't want to stop. I've had to give the finger to several drivers, who refuse to stop for me, I walk slow once I get them to stop, the faster or more urgent they look the slower I walk, then when they peel away I curse at them and give them the finger :PPPPP That is a terrible light that needs more enforcement
Not that people stop at that crosswalk. Countless times I nearly get run down by people in too much of a hurry to bother stopping for me, even when I hit the pedestrian light and it turns red. Its ridiculous. There should be more traffic enforcement in that area, they could have two cops. One at laraway rd. by the bus stop, one up on the hill by the church watching and videotaping people who don't stop for the people in crosswalks.
This situation was discussed that day by community members on Winchester's own WinCentral forum. Members contacted town officials, and the light was quickly changed to a Yellow and Yellow. The non-rotary side changes to Red for pedestrians in the crosswalk.
