Basically what's happening here is that Blake's mother wanted a part of Gillery as a reminder of their love. If she could have Gillery's baby she would but since she and Gillery can't produce a child together she went for the next best thing...to have a baby with Gillery's brother. That way her biological child is is also biologically related to Gillery. So she can think of Blake as "their" daughter. The brother was just the sperm donor. lol
