What are the prospects that Israel will take military action in Iran?

Indyk speculates that there is a good chance Israel will attack Iran, but the question is does the U.S. sit back and allow this to happen? Israel has never tolerated another nuclear power in the region. Muravchik says the Israelis are likely to do it if the U.S. does not, and that others in the region would be more angry at the U.S. if Israel bombed Iran rather than the U.S. Abrams adds that Israel would like the U.S. to prevent Iran from gaining nuclear weapons through diplomatic means, but that if this fails Israel will take action. He and Muravchik say the U.S. cannot allow a country with the slogan Death to America to attain nuclear weapons. Indyk responds that deterrence has worked in the past with revolutionary regimes and we should be bolstering Israels deterrence power so they can stand back safely while we try diplomacy.
