@MrJoshuabutcher No, YOU buy the disc only for the movie. Film buffs like me are just as interested in the behind the scenes material as the film itself. We are interested in the creative process of filmmaking, not just the end result you see on the screen. So the extras have major value. Plus it's the simple fact that if such material was available in a previous edition, it should be ported over to the new edition. It devalues the product because you're getting less content at a premium price.

The UK Blu-ray of 'The Thing' has all the special features that was on the DVD release, and the documentary can be accessed on its own.

I agree with your rant 100%. It bugs me that we are getting shafted on the extras on some of these blu-ray editions. I see I'm going to have to keep at least half my DVD collection until the studios get their act together and better blu-ray editions come out.

@Noskee88 Yes, and it's complete and utter shit. Sure, it's finally got all the extras, but they completely messed up the transfer. I did a video about that edition as well: watch?v=DZ5i78Ihmi4 I'm still sticking with my DVD set until Fox actually does it properly.

I'm so glad I bought the re-released version of Dawn of the Dead (2005) 'cause it comes with the DVD copy which has all the extras so I'm a happy camper. :)

@loveaction12 thought I covered that pretty clearly in the video. It's not about caring about the cover. It's about the SAME cover as a previously released special edition being used for a re-release barebones edition being misleading to the unwary buyer. If it's a different edition, it should have a different cover to differentiate it from the other editions.
