of course they are motorcycle engines, or highly tuned prototype engines, because have you seen a race worthy production engine come out of France and Italy?
With their stock engines, and front wheel drive [ as most of them were at factory setup ] these cars would not even pass the first turn!
Even the motorcycle engines they use, I am sure are Japanese...
It's so hillarious when I see people racing with buckets... with a Matchbox! :)

exactly, some vehicles are equipped by motorcycle engine, other are modified or prototype models of car engine.
