music probable called 'la conferencia' de Changui Guantanamo

Changui is a style of Cuban music which originated in the early 19th century in the eastern region of Guantánamo Province. It arose in the sugar cane refineries and in the rural communities populated by slaves. Changui combines the structure and elements of Spain canción and the Spanish guitar with African rhythms and percussion instruments of the Bantu Arara origin. Changui is thought to be the predecessor of son montuno, which enjoyed tremendous popularity in Cuba throughout the 20th century.
The guitar-like tres gives changui its distinctive sound by following the melodic line of the song and reinforcing the harmonic structure of the guitar instruments.
Changui has an accompanying dance, highlighting the coquettishness of the woman and the chivalry of the man. - wikipedia

  • Great changui dancing. Note how they dance on the "2", not the "1". critical concept for dancing like a Cuban. Great changui bongo. Sounds like the bongosero from Grupo Changui de Guantanamo.

  • I don't have the name from this band, but i have the cd 'lo mejor de changui' with four tracks from Changui Guantanamo.

  • Oh my gosh, you are just so confused and are just speaking in word salad. You have zero clue what is going on.

  • That's a very good and important point

worth mentioning. And that is precisely a

point that those, who for a long time have

saught to somehow make some kind of "connection" between cuban musical

roots and the Europeans, purposely ignore. When or if we trace cuban musical

tradition and its roots, we end up in Africa--not Europe.

  • This is totally wrong. Modern changui "with clave" isn't changui at all. It's European gibberish.
