CHANGED THE DESCRIPTION cause I'm Tired of explaining OVER and OVER again.

This is a video benchmark from PrototypeRacing between a ITR2 (A.K.A. acura RSX) and a Lotus Exige.

This is a straight line accelerations, it's obvious that in a track the lotus would leave the honda behind.

IT's UNKNOW IF THE HONDA is tunned, if the LOTUS is standard or if the the drivers are doing this on purpose.

FACTS ON STANDARD CARS:
Lotus - 226.9 Hp/Tone
Honda - 171.8 Hp/Tone
Lotus - 5.7 Sec 0-100Km/h
Honda - 6.7 Sec 0-100Km/h

This is a Rolling Start, SO the honda's FWD disadvantage is rulled out, and it's i-VTEC is a PLUS.
Lotus is light but it's a Mk1 so it's a Rover K series engine.

  • In the twisties that rsx would b dog food....

  • @cold2036 Indeed... but it probably would also under acceleration is they were both standard.

From what i know from the video maker, the exige would have the standard KRover unit but the Khonda under the acura would be at least 40bhp higher than the usual 200bhp... at least. Still that's unknown data and I can only assume.

  • the honda may be faster but i still go for the lotus....more style= more pussy...

  • @streetboy281 Not for the pussy I would go the same way and then swap the engine for a real honda unit.. like the other video.

  • "it's obvious that in a track the lotus would leave the honda behind."

    Sorry, I kinda disagree...

  • @e240

Evidently. The point of testing in a straight line is NOT to show chassis advantage but rather engine/gear/tune-up.

These were very early development tests... so the Type-r Engine was fit to a car that would handle it from stock.

It's not a HONDA BEATS LOTUS kinda video. That would be stupid Even if you made-it with and S2k!

search on youtube for bestomotoring prototype racing exige / elise to see the outcome of these tests!

  • this video is garbage. Lotus burns a acura easily

  • Ive owned an Exige for 7yrs and that Exige driver was far too casual in his acceleration. If you've ever heard an Exige being thrashed, you wouldnt even hear the Honda next to you. Bit of a pointless video tbh,,,,,,,,,plus the Exige would have out braked the Honda at the end of the straight.

  • yea is a drag race..thats wat u do.that lotus should stay on the track not the 1/4 mile .hondas,nissan,mitsubishi,toyota,subaru.own the streets.

  • that vtec sounds niceeeeeee

  • @fastvtec

neither is sohc d15b2, but i mine me'd it bringing up compression and etc parts to do so just cause sum one doesnt have loads to dump on an original vin type r doesnt mean we cant make our own, i have a fricken 88 wagon slammed with d15 mine me but i put type r badge to prove a point type r isnt type r without compression

  • @ShAwNeXsHeN

Correct... but that's not the point.

I think that the guys doing this were trying to prove that the engine/gear ratio/tuning package was so good that even on a bigger car it would rock.
