Well Patriotism is a bit like alcohol. Sufficient is great but too much and you do tend to do foolish things ...

Bottom line though the F35 will be a terrific aircraft and while I loved my time in the RAF the young guns these days do have some amazing bits of kit.

"The price is growing each day"

Please good sir, I implore you to compare the initial procurement of the F-35 to the latest procurement. Most likely you won't so I'll just plug some numbers in for you. $220 mil for the first F-35, four batches later the price is $105 mil (dev costs included. Keep in Mind the last batch of EF's cost 125 mil Euros, or $160 mil (dev costs included). Keep in mind the F-35 is still in LRIP, and if you don't know what this means for costs, stop commenting.

Because lockhead did such a great job with THAAD, Starfighter and the F22 lets have them make the next plane... Sure F22s were the most expensive fighter plane ever, sure it has a lot of problems, so lets have them make the F35.... Hell almost half of germanies starfighters didnt crash into the ground and hey the cracks on the engine block and chasis of the F35 are nothing to worry about....

Yes, i know the story. Its a doku on youtube about the serbian firelink-officer and USAF pilot of the F-117. - A Russian military said about stealth technology ' Nothing is invisible below 2 GHz'. - S-125, etc. - I had a discussion in an other comment section. It ends in a physics curse.. better don't ask, better don't speak about it.^^

Recently, articles have appeared in the Australian press with assertions regarding a war game in which analysts from the RAND Corporation were involved. Those reports are not accurate. RAND did not present any analysis at the war game relating to the performance of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, nor did the game attempt detailed adjudication of air-to-air combat. Neither the game nor the assessments by RAND in support of the game undertook any comparison of the fighting qualities of particular

As a member of the Australian defense force with family in the RAAF I find your comment to be not only laughable but very ignorant to boot. Perhaps you should ALSO look into the FULL version of the RAND report you're refering to. My next comment will quote directly from RAND

    Serbian radars?

Do you even know HOW the F-117 got shot down? Perhaps you should look into L band radar , how it was used and why it isnt commonly used.

    (continue)

The RAAF it'self is not complaining about the F-35. It's moves by corporate entities and politicians making ignorant remarks in documentaries about the F-35, ignorance and arrogance. They are more worried about price tag than it is the fighter it'self. The RAAF and Australian Government are still going to buy their F-35s in 2017 and other countries as well.

But most of those stealth planes are still in development, not in full service.

No it's not! Stop it!! Serbian radars is not the best in the world, and the Lampyridae was not the first prototype of a stealth fighter. Lockheed built a prototype known as the Have Blue in the early 70s, and from that prototype the Nighthawk was built off of.

The F-15/16 and it's variants proved they dominated the era of 4 Gen fighters, with it's advanced air-frames and high performance maneuverability. Ever since the F-22 came out it was a statement to the Air battlefield and game changer.
