Backcombing, teasing, ratting. It all means the same thing. Now you, too, can look like Siouxsie Sioux or Robert Smith.

I'll show you how to create an 80s Goth hairstyle with two items:

- Fine toothed comb
- Awesome hairspray

I wear this style whenever I go out clubbing and it seems that not many Goths do their hair like this anymore (or at least in my town)

  • My hair will not tease no matter what, and some people tell me i have to havve short layers, i have layers, just not short, but i dont see why thats a big deal, can you help me? i want my hair to tease just once lol.

  • @chestneychiller1 You don't really need a specific hair style to tease your hair. Do you have a tail comb and hairspray? It's a bit hard to help without me actually being there :P

  • Not intended to be a rude question but here it goes. ihm sorry if i ofend you in any way.

iht seems the the majority of gothic styles or all people with gothic styles wear crosses, is there a reason, or cawinsadence ( deffinatly spelt wrong) or does it just go with the style?

  • @CaeShaeCatastrophe Lot's of Goths wear crosses, but not all of them. I sometimes wear a rosary because I think crosses are pretty. I'm not religious, and I'm not wearing it to represent religion.

But Goths can wear anything. I have lot's of Ankhs, and different pendants.

It's the same if a Goth wears a pentagram, it could mean they like the look of it, or maybe it represents their religion. So I guess it's basically up to the person wearing it, what it means to them.

  • Wooooahhh, it looks so awesome, especially with the different colours!! <3 But how do you get it back to normal? Do you just majorly brush it and then wash it?

  • @CDOBBY25 I used to brush it out. But now I just jump into the shower and wash it out. Lots of shampoo and conditioner :P

  • @DeathlyNightshade Great tutorial, thanks! <3

My hair is past my shoulders and I'm a bit of a scaredy-cat when it comes to cutting it very short. I understand I will have to cut it at least a bit if I want it to turn out right, but what's the longest do you think I could get away with? c:

  • @lovinnblue222 Do you know something about goth?

  • I like your hair colour :)

  • THATS NOT GGOTHIC ...THATS A MESS!!!

  • My hair is just past my shoulders. Is it too long?

  • Thanks a million, I've been trying to figure out how to backcomb, very helpful demonstration

  • Thank you so much for putting this up!!! This helps so much!!

  • This is insanely awesome, I have quite fair hair... but can never make the back combing last all day, although I use hair spray.. My fringe will as it is bleached red, but the rest of my hair wont.. grr..

  • I've had afro hair most of my life, which never worked for me, so i got a hair cut and started straightening it which made me look like an emo kid..I tried backcombing my hair and it looks epic, definitely a new great look thanks for the great tips i love you!

  • I love you forever. Really I do. I've been marveling at Robert Smith's hair since I saw it. I don't know why I couldn't have figured this out sooner.
