I have lost my job and benefits running out, i have down sized to a smaller apartment but my ex-landlord is keeping my security deposit for $2550.00 for no good reason other than some BS he made up. In the meantime it is costing time & money to get him to small claims court maybe 6 months i'm told. It sucks, but i have a lot to be grateful for anyway as most of us do.

You've nailed it - the government has never properly tracked the unemployment numbers, just as they don't properly track the economic pulse of the country, because their key indicators only cover certain things:

* For unemployment: -- only new applications are counted as statistics -- ongoing recipients do not count -- part-time workers or self-employed who are now not working do not factor in.

* For the economy: -- only items being shipped current qtr. count
