I think he was not a stupid guy , given the resources available in Malawi . Im not from Malawi . Im Angolan but from what I know the he was able to keep some sort of economic order in his nation. The only problem was is good relationship with the apartheid regime.

As long as you did as he said you would be alright
but when or if you spoke bad about him you would end up dead in the shire river or in the mikuyu prison.
