Hi, the mic is there to record the sound, in fact I was playing at a very moderate volume at home, and yes, the street cube is a great little amp for the value :)

Notice how he has the mic picking up the sound of the street cube, not forgetting that the mic is also conected to a PA system to beef up the sound even more.

I own a Roland cube street and for it's size it sounds good and, if I had it mic'd up to a nice big PA system like he has, no doubt mine would sound just as powerful.
