Created by Marcus Grandon in collaboration with the students from his Global Issues course in December 2011 as class project, this short video summarizes attitudes and beliefs of students at a large university in Japan. The project was inspired by Michael Wesch's "A Vision of Students Today" . Contact: marcusgrandon@yahoo.com

Here is the original document created in google docs by the students. Over 60 questions were written first in English and posted
online. Students then voted on which ones to retain as finals, and translated them into Japanese to give to their peers. The questions were created by students for students.

  • This is definitely one of my favorite remakes of the original. Fascinating statistics.

  • i hope , after i go to there ( japan ) some people can teach me more abut japan life, language, etc. and i hope i can live in house.

  • 95% of Japanese Students take Fukushima seriously! WOW! Necessity is the mother of invention. Japan just invented wind turbine energy that is more cost efficient than nuclear power plants less than a year after fukushima. I fear we won't know of a perfect world until it's too late...

  • JAPAN IS DOOMED

  • Having recently graduated from an US university, I don't really think that most if what was shown about student is too far from what I experienced.

  • What a great idea! I've done video work with students, and I've done survey research, but it simply never occurred to me to combine the two! D'oh!

  • Indeed fascinating statistics that reveal a lot of what Japanese young people think that is important and how they truly feel and what they really do. Love the music!! GJ!

  • Awesome work, Marcus! Very interesting. I'm going to share this with some of my colleagues. Nice music! And editing! The opening was especially totally awesome. It's going to take some time to digest all the results... A lot rings true with me and my experience, but some of it was surprising and telling. I think this is an especially good service to help share the Japanese perspective with the world.

  • If I worked 11 hours a week, I would only be making $440 a month.

  • Good work, Marcus - gratz to you and your students on this project.

  • "Why so serious?" - Joker
