Frankie & Adeva, the best!!!!.... I hail from the East Coast but reside on the West Coast currently.... When you go to the club you will hear classic Frankie & or Adeva... It's timeless music...It never gets old...
Deborah Cox is one of the few R&B/House crossovers I know that actually was successful with it, but that could possibly have to do with her making the switch in reverse. Remember that she was known in the R&B world FIRST, then remixes of "Who Do You Love" and "Things Just Ain't The Same" catapulted her into the club scene.
Let's also remember that 1995-1997 was a transition period for urban radio, where house music was slowly but surely phased out of rotation, and many of those artists who attempted to crossover into R&B had already hit the urban mainstream. And it wasn't as if they were abandoning their fans in clubland, seeing as how most of them would release a single for urban radio that had 5+ remixes tailor made for the clubs.
I guess they didn't think a crossover attempt would have the negative effect that it did on their careers. I mean, back in the early/mid 90s, house music got a LOT of airplay on R&B stations, so even people who didn't listen to house music on the regular still had a passing familiarity with the more popular house music artists of the time (ESPECIALLY CeCe Peniston, who got considerable airplay with both her house AND R&B singles).
I guess with this particular song she tried to make a crossover in the mainstream R & B genre,it happened to allot of house artists such as Jomanda,Ten City,Cece Peniston,of course by them making the crossovers it kinda made them lost a bit credibility in the house and deejay world and almost killed their careers.
