  • I wish HD would stop putting exhaust on bikes that they KNOW the buyer won't like. Stock pipes sound like total crap. I realize it is a marketing ploy...you pay $24,000 for an Ultra Classic, and then you pay another $1.000 for replacement pipes. But it just seems wrong to me to sell something that you KNOW the customer won't like.

  • The whole stock exhaust is really not Harley's fault. By law, they have to sell a vehicle that is 50-state legal for emissions and noise level.

This is why you dont see a Toyota or a Ford with open pipes -the company cant sell it. However, aftermarket producers can, and if you look real close at the fine print - anything but stock exhaust is "for offroad or racing use only". Its just selectively enforced :)

  • Dont get mad, but anyone who pays $24k for a harley, deserves to get taken. I love harleys but the prices are a joke.

  • Personally, I too like pipes that are a little louder. But, I also don't mind the sound of the stock pipes. They still have a little rumble but aren't so loud that you get tired of hearing them on those long highway rides. I'm looking to purchase a Ultra Classic soon and I think I'm going to keep the stock pipes on since the type of riding I'm most interested in is the long distance type. Just my opinion.

  • So lets hear it. Start it up already........

  • sounds like my grandmothers.

  • The only negative about stock pipes is performance suffers somewhat......but for long distant touring they are way better.

  • Nice bike. My 99 was loud and my 05 was stock for long distance riding.

  • Cool! Nice ride. Check mine out.
