@tachikoma747 Yeah, that was a great tactic when inaccurate muskets were used. But after the introduction of the rifle-musket in 1855, it was a big problem. Most of the soldiers in the Eastern front were equipped with rifles. Those were still accurate at 300-400 yards and can still kill a man at 800 yards or more. This why it was a bloody war.

@wenyicvs because of the Napoleonic theories of battle tactics at the time. Mass your fire into a concentrated area and you have a greater chance of hitting something.
