@TheUKCanadian Why do we still have a huge deficit, when the stimulus is all but wrapped up??? Why are we still in deficit when the Canadian economy is booming......3.8% growth???? It is SO friggen simple to figure out why we are still in deficit... The Cons Party is doing the same crap as Bush...breeding ignorance in their followers...so they don't question anything. I don't tie myself to ANY party. Martin kept a surplus throughout the tech crash in 2000. What happened this time?????

@TheUKCanadian So, why does Harper say that he introduced stimulus as a result of a decision made among world leaders??...and has NEVER blamed it on opposing parties?? You know dick about what they have done in regard to spening..."they only spend on stimulus". You just regurgitate the words coming out of politicians...and that is the stupidest thing anyone can do... Do some research on the cost of Harper's tax cuts...and other decisions such as the HST that funnel money to corps.

@walkerc585 What you are saying is sp clear....I"m surprised that the media are not giving this real information to the public..or that the Liberal Party ever focussed strongly on it.. The stats I was able to find about just the cost of tax cuts since Harper started governing indicated that the cost in lost revenue will reach $40 billion per year by 2012/13. This does not include debt maintenance. Includes cuts to GST, corp tax, and pers taxes.

In a November 2008 assessment by Parliamentary Budget Officer Kevin Page, it was determined that the Tories’ decision to cut the GST, coupled with an increase in government spending caused the deficit—not the global economic crisis. In February 2011, he said much the same: the deficit is structural, caused by policy not recession. Also, contrary to the federal government’s budget forecast of a surplus for 2015-16, a deficit of $10 billion would remain by mid-decade. Source: Macleans Magazine.

@angrychinesedriver ...oh yea, a 13$ billion dollar surplus means.....THEY OVER TAXED ME. I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!. Oh yea, too late, the liberals already flushed it down the tubes in Quebec and on scrubbed chopper contracts. my mistake.

@angrychinesedriver "Auditor General Sheila Fraser's report reveals up to $100 million of the $250 million sponsorship program was awarded to Liberal-friendly advertising firms and Crown corporations for little or no work."
Are you serious? Harper has had to fix 13 years of liberal waste, in around 6 years and has had to do it during a recession while cutting the GST. He only spent on stimulus and ran a deficit at the request of Liberal crying and whining. You get the same message.

@TheUKCanadian Yeah. The Liberals pissed away so much money while in government, the government had a $13 billion surplus.
Today: $56 billion in the red under Harper.
You saved a couple % on GST, but you're paying through your ass for a lifetime to get the government out of a record deficit. Smarten up already.
How do people still fall for the BS that "Conservatives know how to run the economy best"??
Damn it, every time there's a Conservative PM, we break new records in deficits.

Finance Minister, Jim Flaherty - Apr 21, 2009
"I am comfortable with our projections. The Bank of Canada has changed theirs. My projections were the projections we put in the budget.
I am staying with our budget projections.
We are on track."
Four months later and the projections are off by nearly 50 %.
Flaherty - not good for Canada
Harper - not good for Canada
Harper CONServatives - not good for Canada
