Historical background: Autistic child was assessed and observed by 23 behavioral experts over MANY years--- Footage (2009) taken after mother had just removed son from group home (which had 3 behavioral experts and numerous "specialists" from agencies allegedly checking on autistic son while in group home)--- While in grouphome, a caregiver left son alone in room to beat self in ear so badly, injury (hematoma to ear) required emergency surgery to repair ear. In 2009, mom pulled autistic son from grouphome. He had lived there for about 4 years. Was placed after "experts" and "specialists" hounded family about the need for them to have a "break from autistic son" because he was "burdening" their family. The experts were wrong. Out of home care staff couldn't handle this type of autism. Family got attorney to fight for in home nursing support and finally, after months and months of extreme fighting with state officials, got the help they needed to keep him home.

  • Please help me,my son is exactly like jamey, we have tried everything, he is 17 and I and my other two sons and is father have been doing everythng possible, I also have a form of rhuematoid arthritis and multiples sclerosis . I cannot keep this up, any thoughts or suggestions? thank you in advance.. P.s . We are seraching for a groupp home, but I just don't think any can handle him, He also has seizures and is on meds, nothing works...

  • @Jesusfreak3378 Hi, I'll contact you on a personal message, but meanwhile, stay strong! I know it's hard and sometimes all seeems hopeless and the world is a dark and unfriendly place for people raising children with severe autism, but the more light and love shone on severe autism, the weaker the darkness will be.....

  • I hope I am not the 1001st bringing up those points in a comment. I am studying to become a speech-language pathologist and I know that humans need interaction with others and that autism people need to find another way around this because they don't see any benefit in spending or talk one another. It seems like your son took a lot of drugs trying every possible solution. Was it ever given to him anti-pain meds?

  • @devouringone3 Naltrexone, which blocks endogenous opiods in brain is closest to it. Though he did have Vicodin after wisdom teeth out and he was flying high on it. Very happy. Docs won't prescribe that daily for autism and self injury though. It's not practical, unless pain is causing the self injury.

  • I think you said something like it in the video, "undetected pain", Jameys must be using self-injurious behaviors to try helping himself in that sort of situation where he feels helpless? I can't call it communication because it is said that autism don't get anything out of human interaction... and I don't know about "severe autism".

  • @devouringone3. Jamey has probably retired many professionals. He's extremely resilent when it comes to responding to anything that stops him from hitting self. It's a very deeply ingrained habit, and he's strong. The best things are constant pro-actiive interventions: vibration tubes, musical videos, warm baths, walking, going on car rides, eating foods he likes, massage, aromatherapy, etc...it's non stop all day. And if he gets sick, dear God, everything goes sideways real quick.

  • I'm shocked, but at the same time I have no words to describe the mom's attitude. She's really.... there are no words to describe her. Wonderfull.
