At 1 p.m. that day, two Abbotsford police officers were conducting a foot patrol at Ravine Park in an area close to Abbotsford Collegiate which, according to police, is an area of concern for the department because it is known for drug dealing and open drug use.
When the officers emerged from the park they saw a male pacing in front of a house in the 2500-block Bourquin Crescent East. A vehicle with two people inside pulled into the driveway and the officers allegedly saw a drug deal take place.
The two officers then arrested three men involved, which entailed one officer taking control of the suspects' vehicle after they got out, because it kept moving. The officers were also without the benefit of their patrol car.
Police say the incident was "dynamic in nature" because people involved in the drug trade are often armed and the arrest of people during a drug transaction is dangerous.
