I'm really not impressed and these guys should find more creative ways to spend thier time and talent rather than butcher classics . It looks ways off and cheapens the entire show. Plus they changed music, and replaced way too much . The whole show lost its magic feel to it. This was fucking rediculous and a rushed job as well. Look how everything is in the dark now and looks like a computer game from the 90s. It looks FAKE! The next gen remasters used original models and enhanced not replaced.
I Wish they Would do an 18 Hour Miniseries Set in the original Trek Timeline. It would be about the Early Days of the 5 Year Mission Program involving the Laucnhings of the Original Eariler versiosn of the 1960s Starships. Seeing those Sets from the Original Bridge, Sickbay, The Original Transporter Room as well as the Original Engine Room again would be Magic.
Seing Captain Robert T.April, Commander Christopher Pike,Ronald Tracey,Matthew Decker and a Super Young George Kirk would be Gold....
@Kguy985 No, they aren't "always" lit up in the newer series. They're off in some scenes because The Enterprise isn't indicated to be using them. (Warp Maneuvering).
I agree though, some of the shots seem hurried along, while others are very spectacular. It's a shame it's uneven.
I like the remastered version but I wish they had took more time on it and did a little better job. Some of the scenes looked hurried. I never understand why the impulse engine lights are on sometimes and not others. Even in the new star trek series they are always lit up. It would have been nice to see the Enterprise go into warp as well.
After watching the new remastered version with enhanced CGI effects I just can't go back to the old effects again. The other day started watching the show without enhanced effects and I just couldn't get through it without going back to enhanced and after watching those old effects for 30 years ...
@mc50992 no, I have the remastered Star Trek on DVD, I've heard that the blu ray versions has both, but I'm bnot sure, I don't have the original format. I did but I sent them to my friend in Albuquerque. sorry
@luis6079 Hello! I'm very curious to see the old versions again out of curiosity. I do have the remastered disks and looked very carefully for the non remastered versions on it (Even flipping the disks over which have the Hi Def versions on it for Hi Def players) but I can't find them or any mention of them anyplace. It does have the original trailers for the episodes but that's all I can find. Do you have the remastered version and does it have both on your disks? Mine does not.
@Frost3784 Agreed.

@MuscleManDaniel The music is no different, unless you mean the opening.
