Options available to applicants immigrating to Canada in 2011. Starting July 1, 2011 Citizenship Immigration Canada has imposed quotas on the Skilled Worker (SW-1) category of only 500 applications (from worldwide) per Occupation category per year, in 29 selected occupations (POL-Priority Occupations list). The overall quota for all 29 POL occupations is a maximum of 10,000 applications globally, for Skilled Workers upto June 30,2012. For a running tally of the Quota click:

As an effective alternative to SW-! quotas we at Amicus are advising our clients to apply under the SINP (Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee program) category. This employment-driven immigration category involves an employer based in Sakatchewan province, interviewing the applicant and offering him a job before the applicant applies to immigrate to Canada. This process is NOT subject to any quotas and is much quicker in processing. Usually SINP applicants arrive in Canada in under 1 year with a valid work permit and processing for nomination and PR is usually complete within 16 months.
