Muchilot Bagavathi Theyyam in 'Muchilottu Kavu' near Anchampeedika(Kannur District - North Kerala)
Now bit of history:
Muchilot Bagavathi is one of the most popular deity worshipped in North Kerala.Historian Nandakumar Koroth in his work 'Theyyam: Anustanangalum Samoohika Prasakthiyum'describes the importance of Muchilot Bagavathi in the social formation of North Kerala. There is a practice for suppling food to thousands of devotees in connection with the Muchilot Bagavathi. Another work 'Muchilot Bagavathi' narrates the origin and establishment of Muchilot Kavu in different parts of Kannur and Kasaragod District. Highly decorative figure of Muchilot Bagavathi attracts the minds of devotees and the men of esthetic sense.
Thanks so much for posting this. I am a devotee of BhadraKaali, Kannagattu and Muchilottu Bagavathis and Naga and Puliyoor Kaalis. Its so nice to see Devi's kolam here, as it is so nice to see all the Theyyams and Thiras posted on Youtube. And I am glad to see that the convention about filming these events has relaxed somewhat. Malayali ritual arts are far too beautiful to not be seen by others.
