Offered for only the second time in their history, and the first time since 1983, these unique 1966 Mustangs were removed from Fords San Jose assembly line, thoroughly kustomized by the legendary George Barris, and used by pop music duo Sonny and Cher. In addition to appearances in Sonny and Chers movie Good Times, the cars were displayed as part of the Ford Custom Car Caravans of 1967, and immortalized in scale model kits by AMT. The cars feature nearly consecutive serial numbers, and today, they retain their stock powertrains consisting of the proven 289 cu. in. V8 engine, with a C-4 automatic transmission. Cosmetically restored to their 1966 configuration, they remain a remarkable part of the musical and automotive pop culture of the "Swinging Sixties"! RM Auctions is pleased to present this car, along with hundreds of others at its Collector Cars of Fort Lauderdale event to be held February 6-8 at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center in sunny Fort Lauderdale, FL. • @ToyKingWonder Another example is the Batmobile. Google and get some close up pics...same fencing material, painted black. The "Oil Squirter" was a freaking lawn sprinkler and the rocket engine was a paint bucket painted silver. Now, I know they only had a short time to make the car, but Barris did this on alot of his cars, including these Mustangs.sd

  • I saw both of these cars at "Cars of the Stars" years ago in California. I hate to rain on anyone's parade, but like many of Barris' creations (and I do like some of them) the details were lousy. Those grills were plastic fencing material from the hardware store just cut to fit (and the jagged edges not even planed off) and screwed on. They were ugly as heck. Barris was famous for doing the big things nice, and the details lousy.

  • everything is cool except the front ends. yuckkk

  • Great!
