"Neither of Richard Files efforts stray far from the UNKLE template and both songs sound as though they were written with his day job in mind, and simply happen to be performed by the Cuban musicians. Thats not to say that the material isnt good theyre textbook examples of atmospheric brooding with understated vocals wrapped in strings.

It feels as though File has just used the Cuban trip as a convenient session opportunity and missed the chance to incorporate some of the local flavour into the tracks. But thankfully File and his fellow interlopers have avoided simply perpetuating false ideas about what Cuban music by fusing a shuffle of piano led samba to make the tracks authentic."
