Also, if you watch most games, you'll realize that Pedroia is one of the hardest guys to strike out in the American League. At 5"7' he can still get on top of a high fastball. And yes, fastballs are the easiest pitches to hit in baseball, but he can foul of breaking balls until he gets a fastball.

If you want to talk about average then go to Ty Cobb. This guy batting .420!!! In 1911! The next year .409, and finally once more in 1922 at .401. He got over 200 hits in 9 of his seasons including a 248 hit season in 1911 where he batted .420. Ending his career with a .366 overall overage that stands as a record to this day. But unfortunatly for the fans, he was NOT a homerun hitter what-so-ever, his highest total in a season was 12. That's why he HATED Babe Ruth :)

Who hits close to .400 in the bigs anymore? The pitching is much more dominant that it was back then. Comparing Pedroia to Ruth is stupid anyways because they aren't both power hitters. Ruth hit bombs and Pedroia has good at bats and plays good defense. What you're saying is that anyone who doesnt hit close to .400 isn't a worthy MVP. Give me a break!
