Try easing up on the volatile, and heavier on the narcotics...they seem to wake up much smoother this way

LOVE it. One of my favorite moments was when I was having my very first surgery at the age of 40, the anesthetist Dr. Johnson said to me "Close your eyes and imagine you're lying on the beach on the warm sand" -- since I was very cold (mostly with nerves as I'd never had surgery before) they put a warm blanket on me so it was easy to imagine...I barely got my eyes closed and my doctor was waking me up in the recovery room! :=) Anesthetists are very important doctors! And they can sing!
