  • What exactly are you going to school for? sounds pretty interesting! anyway, i agree with you, I think that no matter where you stand, in order to fully understand the human body we need to be able to take a look on how the insides work... if we didnt we would still be back in the egyptian times with our medical field!

    Keep it up!

  • If you think it's ok to do dissection, then fair enouh. I believe everyone is entitled to have an opinion that is their own.

But be assured of one thing - you are NOT an animal rights activist if you agree with using animals for dissection.

  • Well Melissa, before you become a surgeon you sit in on many many surgeries taking notes. Then when you know your stuff its time to assist the surgeon! But yeah cutting animals open is sort of important to learning how to deal with the human body. For example I work with avian brain tissue (bird brains). By using these animals i can practice identifying the parts of the brain. I dont want to be a brain surgeon but this practice has proven to be valuable our brains and bird are sorta similar.

  • That sounds pretty cool... makes me wish I would have had time to fit human anatomy lab into my schedule.

  • definitely changed my perspective. thanks.

  • I would get another docter to do surgery on me, I would be pissed

  • Well said, Mel, our bodies are like machines, our emotions tell us that everyone value their own body as well as the sugyons working on them. We all have that perception nowdays of taking care of one another and patients do expect the hopistal to take care of our bodies. There should be a learning device with a set of tools rigged up to a machine operating on a dummies, like the one you train CPR on and practice on that. Someone should design that. Have fun with training in class.

  • funny when i hear your texan accent come through
