Watch as we transform a computer lab in a North Carolina high school with Cree LED lighting. We replaced outdated T12 fluorescent lights and ballasts with the Cree CR24. The results are beautiful and show just how much energy you can save with LED lighting.

  • I'm not sure this is a good upgrade in this case - if you look later on in the video, before and after, you can see that the 'old dingy fluorescent' had almost no emission to the sides.

There was minimal light bouncing off the faces of the monitors.

The considerably greater side-spill of the LED fixtures does make the room appear brighter, however, it may not be so good for people actually working on the monitors.

  • @arquitectorocha Remember that a T5 fixture c/w 4 lamps equals to 112 watts. The LED equivallent to this fixture is only 50 watts. At half of the energy consumption using LED the cost difference actually isn't much. Don't forget minimum 50,000 hrs of operation. Less maintenance cost to replace fluorescent bulbs or ballasts.

  • Too bad they replaced fixture one for one. They could have used half as many fixtures as they installed. I guess they make money by selling more fixtures than needed. The fixtures are installed 6x8 on center.

  • would love to see the calculation on 6 month payback! Did they give the fixtures away?

  • It is cool ! it is very bright than old light

  • Lol @ Maggie's wallpaper

  • I find the girl's voice very annoying. Thank God my GirlFriend doesn't sound like this.

  • I feel just like I watched a big long advert. YAWN.

  • A computer lab? All I see are giant paperweights with apple symbols on them.

  • the advantage that i can see on this fixture its that heat sink its flipped so the cooling system its better and this give us the life of LED´s as the specifications say . But i have doubts about the loose of light quantity between the reflections and the screen.

Comparing this to the T5 fluorescence that its efficiency can reach 100 lm/ watt and the cost is under the 70% over LED´s (IEEE studies). I mean i´m not against LED´s i´m just having doubts about this system of reflecting LED´s
