Look into the SCA then — Society for Creative Anachronism. They use rattan weapons and actual armor.

Even WITH the foam weapons... I've seen a leg dislocated... bruises COVERING the arm... some have gotten welts from it...

do you HONESTLY think we'd NOT use foam covered weapons when that happens WITH it?

(Sure the leg was dislocated not by the weapon and was really the knee but it was during the fight of it.. and the leg was hit by the weapon.. [was trapped foot, back step + weapon hit hard = dislocation])
