OSMA and AARP Ohio Joint News Conference on the Impending Medicare Meltdown

The Ohio State Medical Association (OSMA) and AARP Ohio held a news conference on Dec. 7 to urge Congress to fix the flawed Medicare physician payment formula, known as the Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) formula. The OSMA and AARP are calling on Congress to act on a pending agreement before Jan. 1 and avert a schedule 25 percent cuts in Medicare fees for all of 2011. This should give ample time for the new Congress to put past differences aside and find a permanent solution that will protect seniors' access to doctors for the long- term.
