Yes, since curb appeal is so very important painting the driveway is smart. In this case, the Sellers wanted to have this done. It was very inexpensive- just the cost of paint.

They moved there so their daughter could think she's in Beverley Hills 90210. And now they are going to move because they have to drive too much. They'll probably move to another suburb where they're going to have to drive everywhere again. I don't know if they'd be able to survive a day camping.

I don't live in California... I live in Massachusetts and I have never seen anyone paint the driveway.  I guess living in a climate with a real winter with ice/snow any paint on a driveway would surely look worse after one winter due to shoveling/plowing. I would think it could be an environmental issue too because of paint chips easily being floated away during rainstorms.
