  • Very interesting... I was reading through several books written back then that never mentioned that including the diaries of Sherman and Grant. If you could forward me a copy of where I would find these ratifications, I would be most greatful, as I am currently doing a paper on that side of the war.

BTW - I was not trying to disagree with you - I just like to know all the facts before I draw conclusions...thanks man

  • 13 states had clauses attach to their rattification of the constitution stating they could leave the union at any time.

we didnt want any war. we just wanted to left alone to tend to our own affairs. that is why less than 5% of the fighting was up north. we dont wanna run their union. we just want to be left alone.

  • Free the Lamas!

  • Double standards are common place between officers and citizens.

  • Another great report! ...Goddamn federal assholes!

  • Where in the constitution does it say states have the right to secede? it doesn't. On the flip side, it doesn't say they can't either. In his memoirs, Ulysses Grant wrote an interesting bit on this. As for the rest of your comment, I feel for them. Go to google and type in 'A Lesson in Government Coercion current' , and it is explained more in detail there. There was nonsense on both sides of the fence, and did indeed lead to a meaningless war.

  • How about SOG firing on civilian supporters of the Browns on Brown property? Was that force intended or was that an accident?

  • The federals killed my ancestors in 1865 South Carolina when the state exercised the constitutional right of secession. They killed alot of civilians and burnt down our houses and buisnesses and crops to coerce us into givin up. They stole what they could carry home and tried to destroy the rest. believe it or not prior to their invasion we were the richest state in the union. SC,NC, and VA togeather privided over 75% of all federal tax revenue. thats why they wouldnt let us leave.

  • oh also, I witnessed anywhere from 5-7 US Marshals beat up a naked, face down on the ground and handcuffed behind his back Cirino Gonzalez, and was thrown up against the wall as I exited the bathroom. A blatant use of force if you ask me. definitely not peaceful in their actions.

  • Thank You Dave, once again. Continue the good work!
