@chefdette Here in mexico we have two kinds of basil. One is small leaves and very very fragrant (some people use it to keep bugs away, is that fragrant) and the other has a mild fragrance and the leaves are about 4 cm diameter. Which one is the right one? When I was in BKK I didn't pay much attention to the ingredients hahaha now I regret. Can I use the fragrant one? The other is really hard to find =( or as you mentioned mint leaves, are that ok? Will it change the flavor much??

Our local Thai place uses mint not basil...not sure what part of Thailand the owners/chefs are from. Beef pieces (not minced) are also used here. This is my favorite Thai Dish! Love it!
