I'm working on Junior moves in the field, and I only just got the hang of these Choctaws, they're probably the hardest move in the Junior test!

nicely done xx

Well I learned deeper first and it hard to get them quicker after learning the deeper, so I think your coach has a good plan. I don't think you should have a lot of trouble of course you look 1/2 my age. Keep up the good work!!

Interesting....in my region of the country they want them much 'edgier' than that---they want to see very definite curves & the steps are slowed down a bit to have the time to show that.

very smooth

they look great! Any tips on how you get them looking that good?

in my region, the judges (who are mainly ice dancing judges) get all over you if the choctaws are flat, which yours are. However, your choctaws are true choctaws, not weird mohawks. I would say that since you have the extra room, go ahead, slow them down, and do nice deep edges. But always listen to your coach because they can kick your butt if you don't. I liked the choctaws though.

Thanks. I've since tested and passed them. My coach for junior always got after me for making them quick but I didn't like making them too quick because I'd lose the edges and I had some great deep edges after a while.

If you look at the pattern in the PSA book it is a series of alternating deep edges. It is obvious that you could do them as you have good knee bend. The primary focus is edge quality and the secondary focus is power. Quickness doesn't play a part except that you want an even cadence throughout the move, you already have that. Looks good.

My coach tries to get me quicker, but I like deep edges better!
