TORONTO STAR INVESTIGATION "Desperate Moms want boys", PUBLIC MEETING.

Punjabi commentary and invitation by Gurdish Mangat.

This is an open invitation to a meeting to anyone who would like to discuss the recent TORONTO STAR INVESTIGATION and article published by RAVEENA AULAKH.

A meeting shall be held at the SIKH LEHAR GURUDWARA, On NOVEMBER 12th, at 2:00PM, located at 79 Bramsteele Rd, Brampton, Ontario.

The intention of this meeting is to create awareness in the community in regards to to the recent exposure by the Toronto Star of the problem of FEMALE FOETICIDE and preferences of male babies prevalent in society.

You people are forgetting that this is going to benefit women in the LONG RUN... How you ask, just imagine 20 years from now when these boys will need to get married there will be 10 boys for every 7 girls... so the family with the girls will be in the driver seat.. mother nature has a cruel way of correcting human stupidity!

Mr. Mangat, I am glad that you and others in the Toronto media are addressing this issue boldly.

I live in Detroit, and we had a Punjabi Khed Mela here which was attended by lot of Punjabi women.

I learned that the Kabbadi tournaments in Toronto area are attended by only men.

If above is true this reflects very poorly on our community.

Let us start with small steps. Maybe we can ask the organizers to take up this issue.

If Detroit can do it Toronto can too.

As Mr. Mangat called it the "so called media", that sums it up. These people only care about the money, no ethics, no liabilities, no "sharam", and no soul. The worst part about this is the fact that this topic will fade away very quickly.

Kudos to Rubeena Aulakh as well, she covers quite a few stories effecting our community, a few months ago she wrote an article about punjabi women in trucking industry, it was quite enlightening. Good for her.
