My absolute favorite GTO the 1969 had the sharpest lines and that front bumper was indestructable! also the hidden headlight option was really cool, back in the days we raced against every thing on the street and believe me every other red light was a race waiting. Those days are gone forvever but I wouldnt trade them for anything!! GREAT VIDEO Thanks for bringing back memories!!!!!

@mongoose704 I do like the Firebirds, but I LOVE the GTO. I don't care as much that the Firebird is lighter, I just LOVE the way the GTOs look.

Id take a GTO over most Firebirds, cept maybe the Super Duty T/As, the difference though being the GTOs are more expensive than most T/As these days, so the question becomes pay more for a true 60s' classic, or less for a 70s' icon, hmmm...

Interesting note. Pontiac had a rule that the GTO had to be the fastest Pontiac. When they made the Firebird and gave it the same powerplant, it ran circles around the GTO due to less weight. So Pontiac put a governor on the Firebirds throttle to prevent WOT and wouldn't give it a true dual exhaust. Thus the Ram Air engines were rated much less in the Firebirds.

Still those GTOs look mean. If someone GAVE IT TO me I miiiiight take it 8^)

That's a real nice video. When I was a kid my Mom had a '69 GTO. 400ci with a 3 speed automatic. I shared this video with my parents and now they want another one. Thanks!
