Los Angeles Times, January 24, 1992: SAN BERNARDINO — Former singer Mitch McDowell of the funk group General Kane and a teen-age nephew were shot to death during a robbery at their bail bond business, authorities said Thursday. "We don't know if it was personal, professional or just a spur of the moment deal," Detective Vince Kutch said. Details about the slayings, including the type of weapon used, were not disclosed.

They used to play this all the time on KUOR 88.1 when it came out. The producer for this runs Groove Time Recs, in San Bernardino, the same town were one of the members was killed back in 92.
