Mis Boon or Over Coffee: Daughters of the Horn is a short documentary that portrays some of the key historical events within Eritrea. It will address the lack of common knowledge for this part of the world through the unique stories of women from that region. Through brief interviews and discussions, their stories and personal experiences will engage and touch any audience. This documentary is 22 minutes in length and, as the title suggests, will uncover the womens experiences through a traditional coffee making ceremony.

Objectives of Documentary

· * An informational tool for those who are unfamiliar with or have a limited understanding for this part of Africa

· * A promotional offer and introduction to a longer film or series of its kind, which will allow for an even more detailed understanding of the subject matters relating to the Eritrean experience from a Canadian context.

· * To bring people living in a diverse city together by providing an opportunity for international communities to better understand one other.

This project is being funded solely by the filmmaker as an independent production. The interests have been great in numbers, attracting various communities including the youth from post secondary institutions, the various African communities and other members of under-represented communities.

The misconceptions regarding this region of Africa are immense and efforts undertaken to correct them have fallen on deaf ears time and again.

A silent war raged in Eritrea for over 30 years and resulted in the loss of over 100,000 lives.

This documentary is for those who have lost family members in a struggle that remains relatively unknown; the struggle for a peaceful existence as an independent nation acknowledged as Eritrea.

  • Informative documentary, it would be great to commissioned more eritrean experience in the diaspora.

  • @pompei1968 but if u want to see someone a few countries away from you, who beat out the white german girls in beauty contest, then look to sara nuru (both her parents ethiopian). and if you say she looks like an ape, then what must the white german girls look like who lost to her?

  • @pompei1968 i see its still bothering u of italy's defeat of a country in africa. yes italy is advanced militarily, just not clever enough to defeat abysinnia. in your claim of superiority, you still think like you are in darwin's time, more europeans have gone past that. as far as your picture you see on media about us, obviously, you have not been to addis and elsewhere. in your reference to apes, many people from greece, germany or america say of our beauty among the average of us.

  • @abysinnianlion i would have to see today if italy would fight ethiopia we would crush them like soda can..italy is 9 over all best military spends over 40billion $..where is your north africa today? think about your famine crisis in your north africa!! read your history a bit better before you talk, you dont even know why italy used mustard gas! how about the US in vietnam using agent orange killing millions of people?? @ least the knig of italy fed you with a plate of pasta back then.HAHAHAHA

  • @abysinnianlion funny when italy colonized north africa! italians built roads, schools ,churches,hospitals..cured malaria..you had food to eat!look @ africa now !! FAMINE haha!! italy is a G8 nation 10 richest in the world! you start civil wars, famine, hiv.ect! nothing has progressed sice italians left!! it just shows how superior whate man is to inferior black man! its a fact not rascism! here's a christmas song from band aid "feed the world let them, know its christmas time. i pitty you africans

  • @pompei1968 Italians are pussy- only european country to get defeated 1896 at battle of adwa. You can't fight like men, and when you got captured you got castrated. Even in 1935 with your fascist pervert leader, you had to resort to gas on civilians because you can't fight like men, otherwise, you would get castrated again. And you only captured Addis, not the country, because there was still freedom fighters in the country.

  • @abysinnianlion @ least we eat spaghetti what does a famine africa eat??? thats the thanks we got for what we did in the horn of africa? now look at your beloved ethiopia ..a country full of famine..you fuckin idiot it was the britts who gave eritrea to ethiopia not italy we lost the war to the allies you big ape! i'll be donating 100$ of my earned money for famine in etrhiopia!! or will your corrupt gover. take it?

  • The major catastrophy started in 1890, when filthy italian decides eritrea is a nation, only to exploit it and conquer other countries in horn. This whole problem would have never started had those spaghetti eating perverts stayed in their own country. Now you got habesha people hating each other more than they hate the original people who created this hate in the first place. 30 year blood shed could have been avoided.
