Documentary about Mario Filho, the greatest sports chronicler of Brazil and the creator of the mythology of brasilian soccer,his name was given to the Maracanã the worlds soccer temple. His chronicles are interpretated with rich stock material, from cinenews of Atlantida Cinematográfica, with images of the greatest soccer games and icons of the brasilian soccer, such as: Pele, Zico, Rivelino etc. It shows also actual images of Flamengo club fans and the school of samba parades.
Besides, vintage footage from carnival in Rio de Janeiro and the
worldwide known samba school parade - which was also created by Mario
Filho in 1929 - are also shown.
For his participation in the creation of such large scale popular
events, Mario Filho became known as the "Crowd Creator"

Filho's importance in the construction of a national identity. Some
recent images of the Flamengo supporters - the largest group of
football fans in Brazil at the 2009 Brazilian championship decision

filmed at the Mario Filho/Maracanã Stadium and Brazilian idols such as
Pelé, Zico, Garrincha, Rivelino, Leônidas da Silva, Fio Maravilha,
Manga and Didi, among others.

In Brazil, Mario Filho is called by many the "Homer of football", as
his chronicles record the history and create the symbology of gods and
heroes in Brazilian football. He wrote a chronicle everyday from 1926
to 1966, the year of his death.

Journalistic and poetic documentary about Mario Filho, the writer and
journalist that introduced the sports chronicle in Brazil and the
creator of the Brazilian football mythology. The Maracanã Stadium was
renamed after him: Mario Filho Stadium.
