  • Is it "bad" to play baroque music in a classic or romantic style?

there already are "authentic" versions, why is it bad to try something different?

  • @muurtalo

Thanks for agreeing mate. It is as if he has singlehandedly killed Bach in this performance. Utter rubbish

  • too slow

  • herr. js bach is talking to GOD.......

  • How close were the mics? I can hear each individual violinist instead of just one section.

  • I think I might actually like Brahms in a baroque style.

Music doesn't have words. It's all about telling a story or a thought or an expression through the combination of sounds created by various instruments. There are SO many possibilities you can do with the hundreds of instruments and tones and chords out there! Also, you are allowed to take another composer's work and turn it into a whole different piece. Looks up Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini.

  • And to think those brainless people scurring around preaching their way is the best way, including their tastes without one 'legimate argument' as I quote one fine intelligent person below us. I'd go as far to say the classical world would be a much more accesible genre had it not been these pussies being such a snob about it. The very act is detestable enough to repel people away from it.

  • @muurtalo No, I don't care what others listen to and I respect them as long as they respect mine. See even this basic concept eludes you, too many people in this world lack discriminatory skills.

  • @LinguistTroubadour You're talking about yourself? LOL!

  • Some pussies think their tastes are physical laws of the universe or something.

God damn them, please. Wouldn't even blink if that happened.

  • I don't care if bach creates an earthquake rolling in his grave, I still like this piece.

  • @muurtalo He said that it's not OK to interpret baroque music romantically by implying that it's exactly as bad as interpreting romantic music in baroque style. The crux of his point is that any stylistic reinterpretation of a piece of music is wrong just 'cause it is. There is not one truly legitimate argument against orchestrating Bach's music in his post, and this statement is not a result of deliberate misinterpretation, I assure you.
